Welcome Home Sorors...

It was March 14, 1970 in the college town of Ann Arbor, Michigan when eight young coeds accepted the call of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and became Zeta’s inaugural pledge line on the University of Michigan’s Ann Arbor campus.

These women were, myself, Madie Jackson, Addie M. Hanks, Marilyn Davis, Eleanor Thomas, Margo Dawson, Joyce Lovett, Lynda Smiley, and Sharon Jones.

Over the next eight weeks, these young women developed and demonstrated steadfastness, perseverance, and a strong sisterly bond, and on May 16th, the “Elegant Eight” introduced Zeta Phi Beta Sorority to the University of Michigan, thus establishing the Gamma Delta Chapter.

This year it warms my hearts, that the legacy of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. on this campus still lives on. As our Sorority commemorates 100 years of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood, I am thrilled to celebrate 50 years of Gamma Delta Chapter.   I look forward to welcoming you home in 2020 as we celebrate 50 years of Sisterly Love!

With Love,

Dr. Madie Jackson Searcy
